Natural Horsemanship Lessons with Amy Hoffman

We are proud to partner with Top Mare Stables and Amy Hoffman to provide Natural Horsemanship Lessons. Amy has a long history with horses and riding, starting out in the English discipline before transitioning to Western riding as an adult. Under trainer and Natural Horsemanship expert, Josh Guin (formerly a local legend at Crossroads Horse Ranch), Amy gained her Natural Horsemanship training. The unique tools and training techniques designed by Josh has helped Amy gain a deeper, more profound understanding of training and riding, to which she wishes to pass along to her students. Let’s read what Amy has to say herself:

“My connection with horses is a lifelong journey rooted in curiosity, respect, and a deep appreciation for these incredible animals. From earliest memories of watching herd dynamics to years spent learning movement, behavior, and language, I’ve sought to understand and communicate with horses on a deeper level—listening beyond words and prioritizing their needs, comfort, and wellbeing.

I believe true horsemanship grows from relationships built on trust, respect, unity, and expectations, the TRUE method, developed by Josh. Safety and the horse’s welfare are always foremost. That means reading subtle signals, adapting methods to each individual, and never forcing progression at the expense of confidence or calm.

My approach is grounded in patience, awareness, and compassion. Every horse and every human bring unique history and temperament; an effective program honors that individuality while providing consistent, clear guidance. In lessons I emphasize balanced, intentional riding habits—posture, timing, feel, and a light, responsive use of aids—so students develop physical balance and emotional clarity in their communication with the horse.

Long term, my goal is for students to leave our program confident, capable, and considerate riders: able to safely mount and ride, to read and respond to a horse under saddle, and to maintain a partnership that endures beyond their time here. Those skills—safety, empathy, and clear communication—are what create riders who not only perform well but who truly honor the horse.”

Natural Horsemanship Lesson
$75.00

Natural horsemanship lessons teach a respectful partnership using the horse’s instincts and body language. They build leadership, timing, balance, and subtle cues so the horse responds willingly based upon:

Groundwork: build trust and responsiveness before mounting.

Body language and seat: use posture, weight, and core to influence the horse.

Soft rein and leg aids: cue movement with energy and timing, not force.

Desensitization and confidence work: face controlled challenges to grow trust.

Individualized problem-solving: adapt methods to each horse and rider.

Lessons move at the horse-and-rider’s pace, with safety, clear communication, and calm cooperation first. Suitable for all ages 5+

Horse Camps
$110.00

Horse camps offer invaluable lessons in animal care and farm stewardship within an engaging outdoor setting that keeps kids active and curious. By combining hands-on chores—grooming, feeding, stall care—and guided time with horses, campers learn responsibility, empathy, and the rhythms of daily farm life while enjoying fresh air and wide-open space. A natural horsemanship riding lesson complements this experience by teaching clear, respectful communication between rider and horse: instructors emphasize balance, neutral posture, and subtle weight shifts plus rein and leg aids to influence movement, tailoring exercises to the horse-and-rider partnership to build relaxation, responsiveness, and practical problem-solving. Through these combined activities children develop confidence, safety awareness, and cooperative skills so horses willingly follow cues both in the arena and on trail, making the program suitable for all levels.
